Looking at Business travel before the COVID-19 pandemic shows that a third of respondents (34%) travelled for work before the pandemic. Indian respondents (69%) travelled the most and French and German the least (15%).
51% of those travelling for work took three or more trips a year. Frequent travel of three plus trips was highest in Brazil (65%), Germany (57%) and the US (51%).
Forty-one percent (41%) of those who travel for business have done so since March 2020.
Respondents in India (50%) and Mainland China (49%) have taken the most business trips in this time, whilst Singaporeans report the least (26%).
Forty-six percent (46%) of respondents globally have work travel planned in the coming six months.
This remains high for Chinese (68%) and Indian (57%) respondents with French (53%) respondents also expecting to increase their business travel plans.
Travel plans for the next six months currently remain lowest in the UK (27%) and Singapore (29%).
Of those planning business travel in the next six months domestic travel will be more common than international.
For these trips, business travellers are most likely to travel by air (51%) and/or by car (44%).
Six out of 10 business travellers in the US (60%), Brazil (59%) and China (59%) plan to travel on domestic work trips by air. In France and Germany domestic business travel will be predominantly by car (59% and 48% respectively).
Whilst overseas business travel is on the agenda less, 44% of Singaporeans plan to take an international flight for work purposes in the next six months.
