Collective effort
How brands can earn Latin Americans’ trust and help them achieve a more sustainable lifestyle while growing
The path towards sustainability becomes almost impossible without collective support. This means that Latin Americans expect governments, retailers and industries to not be mere spectators of change. They have a critical role to play in the well-being of the Earth.
Overall, government engagement remains consistent – although expectations for action in Latin America are remarkably subdued compared to other regions. Meanwhile, industries still find themselves in the hot seat , facing pressures similar to pre-pandemic levels. However, it is worth noting that the opinion on the need for action in the retail sector grows with each edition of our survey.
And this data also shows us that consumers are paying attention: only 12% of Latin Americans believe that retailers help when it comes to sustainability. At the opposite end, 22% said that the sector does not contribute anything to the issue. And this vision is even greater in Chile. In the region’s leading country, there was an increase of 124% in the number of respondents who agree with the statement.
Interestingly, consumers seem to be shirking their own responsibilities. Only 23% of Latin Americans say they could make a difference in controlling environmental damage.
