Dermacare
Scientifically backed beauty
A growing segment in Thailand, dermacare products contain active pharmaceutical ingredients that take beauty beyond ‘skin deep’, providing more holistic benefits that are linked to boosting health as well as appearance. These products are developed to address and solve real issues and problems – not just with the skin on the face, but also the body – to make it healthier and stronger.
The penetration of derma brands within Thailand in 2023 reached 21.3% – a massive 36.6% higher than in 2021 – meaning they are being bought by more than a fifth of the total population.
Offering dermacare features enables brands to position themselves at a premium price point, often well above that charged by mass-market skincare brands.
The popularity of dermacare brands is being driven by consumers’ increasing demands for beauty products that deliver high efficacy and safety. To engage them, brands must highlight their ‘hero’ ingredients, and provide relevant product certifications and evidence of tangible results in order to illustrate the effectiveness and trustworthiness. Transparency in communication is extremely important.
Hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, in particular, are already expanding into the realms of body, hand and footcare.
